RAINTREE ( Samanea Saman ) is native to Central & South America but is widespread throughout Australia. Other common names include Monkey Pod & False Powder Puff.
Colour of timber tends to be a golden to dark brown, sometimes with darker streaks.
Sapwood is usually thin & yellow/white, clearly demarcated from the heartwood. Raintree is sometimes seen with curly or wild grain patterns.
